Kazakh

Kazakh is one of the Turkic languages. Its origin belongs to the XIV-XVII centuries. The Arabic and Persian languages had a great influence on its formation because the vocabulary was largely enriched by loanwords. Scientists distinguish 3 dialects in Kazakh: southern, western, and northeastern, and the first one appeared under the strong influence of Uzbek. However, that was the last dialect to become the basis of the modern literary language.

The final formation of writing was in the 19th century, and the Arabic alphabet had a significant effect on this process. However, the Cyrillic with certain modifications is widely used nowadays. In 2017 the President of the country stated about the beginning of the transition to the Latin alphabet and about the creation of a single standard for graphic images of particular words.

It`s important to note that the language started changing within the framework of puristic trends after the collapse of the USSR and after the acquisition of independence by Kazakhstan. Instead of loanwords of international meaning, which are, in fact, universal, they began using invented analogs “neologies ”.

Interesting facts

Kazakh is the native language of 15 million people. And about 2 million people quite actively know this language. In addition to Kazakhstan, it`s also spoken in Iran, Mongolia, Afghanistan, and Germany. All these things are somehow connected with the settlers. The knowledge of Kazakh will make learning Turkish, Kyrgyz, and Azerbaijani easier.

At different times, Kazakh words in writing were transmitted by runes, Arabic, and Latin alphabets. Today they use the Cyrillic alphabet, but, as it was mentioned above, N.A. Nazarbayev is planning to change it. Nevertheless, some Kazakhs living in China still write in the Arabic alphabet. And the Latin version is used by settlers living in Turkey.

Kazakh like Russian turned out to be one of the first cosmic languages. The information on the first satellites was written this language. The fact is that the capsule could have fallen in one of the regions of Kazakhstan. That`s why the decision of duplicating the warning information appeared in case someone didn`t know Russian.
