Since Turkey is a member of the Hague Convention it doesn’t require any legalization of foreign documents, only the «Apostille» stamp. It is important to note that without this stamp Russian documents won’t be considered inside Turkey.

Documents that cannot be stamped:

• diplomatic and consular missions’ documents,
• customs declaration,
• documents regarding commercial and external economic activities.

Сommercial documents should be legalized in the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry before using them in Turkey.

Where to affix the Apostille?

According to the Hague Convention, all the documents notarized in one country, which is a member of the Convention, can be accepted in another without any restraint. Thus, a person should affix the Apostille on all the documents such as certificates, diplomas, extracts, etc. as in general rule in the place where each document was issued before heading to Turkey.

Take a note that many certificates of the executive branches have a short period of validity after which you’ll have to do the same procedure again. For example, a certificate of no criminal record is valid on average for 6 months but some authorities will accept one issued not later than 3 months ago.
